African-American Regimental History Book of the Segregated 372nd Infantry, First Edition 1944. A very rare find in Beautiful condition. photographs of African-American soldiers and officers in the segregated 372nd Infantry during World War II. 8 3/8" x 10 7/8".

The 372nd Infantry had served under French command during the first World War. They were one of the few African American troops that had experienced combat at the front. The text includes a regimental history dating to 1863, when it began as a volunteer regiment in the Civil War, Also provides a short bio of the commanding officer, Colonel Edward Orval Gourdin, who was the first African American appointed to the Massachusetts Supreme Court. He attended Harvard and partook in the Olympics, where he was the first man in history to to long jump 25 feet and the first African American to win a silver medal for such accomplishment.
