National RQ-418.

Released in 1976. This unit has the cool, old-school look of the era when Matsushita Electric (now Panasonic) used the National brand.

I think it falls into the category of cassette recorders. It doesn't have a radio function like a radio-cassette recorder; it's specialized for cassette playback.

Personally, I like the design with the blue and red accent colors on the buttons.

It can be powered by a power cable or six size-D batteries, so it can be used indoors or outdoors.

It's compact, so I think it's just right for simply listening to cassettes.

I'm not sure if it's the original specification, but the fast-forward (Cue) button doesn't hold; you have to keep it pressed. Rewind (Review) does hold.

I checked the internal cassette deck, but I couldn't find a mechanism to hold, so I suspect it's the original specification.

The built-in microphone doesn't work. I haven't confirmed whether an external microphone can be input.

AUX IN is not available.

Since the original power cable was missing, a general-purpose one will be included.
